  • Website Usage Data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and other analytics data collected through cookies and similar technologies.

We use your personal information to:

  • Assess your eligibility for the Disability Tax Credit and related benefits
  • Coordinate with medical practitioners on your behalf
  • Prepare and submit applications to the Canada Revenue Agency
  • Communicate with you about your application status
  • Process retroactive tax adjustments
  • Improve our services and website experience
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements

4. Consent

5. Data Storage and Security

All personal information is stored on Canadian servers. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments. We do not store or process personal information outside of Canada.

  • Medical practitioners involved in your T2201 certification (with your consent)
  • The Canada Revenue Agency as part of your application (with your authorization)
  • Our internal team members who require access to provide services
  • Legal authorities when required by law

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

7. Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. When information is no longer needed, it is securely destroyed or anonymized.

  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Withdraw consent for the use of your information
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to improve your browsing experience and analyze website traffic. You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings. Essential cookies required for website functionality cannot be disabled.

We use the following analytics and tracking services:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4): We use GA4 to understand how visitors interact with our website, including pages visited, time spent, and navigation patterns. GA4 may collect your IP address (which is anonymized), browser type, device information, and approximate geographic location. Data is processed by Google LLC. This data is shared with Meta Platforms, Inc. and may be used to deliver targeted advertising. You can manage your ad preferences through your Facebook Ad Settings.
  • Plausible Analytics: We use Plausible Analytics as a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics tool. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track users across websites. All data is aggregated and no individual visitor profiles are created. Data is processed within the European Union.

You may also use your browser's "Do Not Track" setting or install browser extensions to limit tracking. Note that disabling certain tracking technologies may affect your experience on our website.

Note:

The analytics and advertising data described in this section relates exclusively to website browsing activity. Your mobile phone number and SMS opt-in data are never shared with analytics providers, advertising platforms, or any other third parties. 10. SMS and Mobile Data

If you provide your mobile phone number and opt in to receive SMS messages from My Benefits Canada:

No Third-Party Sharing

Mobile subscriber data collected during the SMS opt-in process — including your phone number, opt-in status, and any information you provide via text message — will not be shared with, sold to, rented to, or disclosed to any third parties or affiliates for any purpose, including marketing, advertising, or data brokering. This restriction applies without exception.

Consent Is Not Required for Service

SMS consent is not a condition of purchase of any goods or services from My Benefits Canada. You may use all of our services without opting in to SMS messaging.

Types of Messages

We may use your phone number to send you application status updates, appointment reminders, and important notifications related to your Disability Tax Credit file.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies depending on the status of your application and case activity. You can typically expect to receive 2–5 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply.

Opt-Out

You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. You may also opt out by emailing [email protected] or calling 1-844-MY-BENEFITS (1-844-692-3633). After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message and no further SMS messages will be sent.
