How It Works
From your first conversation with us to CRA approval, we coordinate every step of the DTC application process. Here's exactly what to expect.
Your DTC Application Journey
Free Eligibility Assessment
Start with our brief, confidential questionnaire — or call us directly. We review your situation and provide an honest assessment of whether you may qualify for the DTC. This step is completely free and carries no obligation.
- Complete our online assessment (under 2 minutes)
- Or call us to discuss your situation directly
- We review your responses within 1 business day
- You receive a clear, honest eligibility assessment
Service Agreement & Authorization
If you choose to proceed, we provide a clear written agreement outlining our services, your rights, and our fee structure. We then obtain CRA representative authorization so we can act on your behalf.
- Review and sign our service agreement (plain language, no surprises)
- Complete CRA representative authorization
- We begin gathering information about your condition and history
- Your dedicated case coordinator is assigned
Medical Coordination & T2201 Preparation
This is where our expertise makes the biggest difference. We coordinate directly with your medical practitioner to complete the T2201 form using precise, CRA-aligned functional impact language. Once approved, we also guide you on additional benefits you may now be eligible for, including the RDSP and Child Disability Benefit.
- We contact your medical practitioner directly
- We provide guidance on CRA-aligned functional language
- The T2201 is reviewed multiple times for accuracy and completeness
- If needed, our Nurse Practitioner network provides additional support
CRA Submission & Monitoring
We submit your completed application to CRA and actively monitor its progress. If CRA requests additional information or clarification, we handle it directly.
- Application submitted to CRA on your behalf
- We track processing status and respond to CRA inquiries
- You receive regular updates on your application status
- Typical CRA processing time: 3–6 months
- CRA makes the final eligibility determination
Approval & Retroactive Tax Adjustments
Once approved, we coordinate retroactive tax adjustments for all eligible previous tax years — up to 10 prior tax years, where applicable under CRA rules. CRA issues any refunds directly to you.
- DTC certificate issued by CRA
- We file T1 adjustment requests for all eligible years
- Retroactive refunds issued directly to you by CRA
- We coordinate Child Disability Benefit setup if applicable
We Handle Denied Applications Too
If your DTC application has been denied, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't qualify. Many denials are caused by documentation issues — not ineligibility. We review your previous application, identify the gaps, and either resubmit with stronger documentation or file a formal objection with CRA.
- Free review of your denied application
- Analysis of what went wrong and why
- Resubmission with CRA-aligned documentation
- Formal objection filing if appropriate
- No additional cost for denial recovery
